Sustainability is profitability: Industrial water recovery in a juice processing plant
Development of a technological solution for water recovery in a fruit juice processing plant.
At Perinox, we start from a clear premise: sustainability is not an added cost, but a direct lever for operational efficiency and industrial profitability. With this mindset, we are currently finalizing the testing of a system specifically designed for industrial water recovery—namely alkaline solutions and water—in a juice processing plant.
A technical, simple, and high-impact approach to industrial water recovery
The system targets a critical point in the process: the cleaning of ion exchange columns. Through an integrated recovery solution, the alkaline solution used in the cleaning process (CIP) and the associated water are recovered, enabling their immediate reuse within the same production cycle, without compromising process safety or quality.
Tangible results for the plant
The implementation of this type of industrial water recovery solution delivers clear and measurable benefits:
- Direct savings in operating costs:
Significant reduction in the purchase of new cleaning chemicals by maximizing the useful life of existing solutions. - Optimized water consumption:
Efficient reuse of water resources, reducing dependence on mains water and improving water sustainability indicators. - Less discharge, greater environmental compliance:
Reduction in the volume of effluents generated, making it easier to meet environmental targets and increasingly stringent regulations.
Circular Economy Applied to Process Technology
This project stands as a concrete example of how circular economy principles are integrated into food and beverage process technology, transforming streams traditionally treated as waste into high-value resources. With the development and supply of these industrial systems, Perinox demonstrates that innovation, sustainability, and profitability are fully compatible in modern food engineering.
