Perinox has successfully completed the supply, installation, and commissioning of a skimmed milk microfiltration unit for casein concentration.
The equipment is located in Ecuador and belongs to one of the leading companies in the production of dairy derivatives across the American continent.
The system was integrated into an existing line with the aim of improving cheese yield per quantity of milk and obtaining a permeate of high value for the production of infant formulations.
Microfiltration has three main applications in dairy processing:
- Removal of microorganisms
- Removal of whey fat
- Enrichment of micellar casein during cheese production
In protein standardization processes, both ultrafiltration and microfiltration can be used: ultrafiltration is applied to standardize total protein, while microfiltration is used to standardize casein, using skimmed milk.
Protein standardization results in a more stable cheese-making process, along with several additional advantages:

Assembly and commissioning were carried out over a three-week period in direct collaboration with the client, who was responsible for positioning and interconnecting the equipment within their line under the supervision and pre-engineering of our technicians.
The equipment meets the requirements specified in the contract and is equipped with remote assistance, allowing production monitoring or incident detection in real time without the need for on-site travel.
